(Lam Dong online) – 101 new graduates received a bachelor’s degree in the part-time programme in Population and Development at the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work of Dalat University, in the afternoon of August 12.

This programme was started from 2021, organized into 3 classes in Dalat, Hanoi and Hai Duong province. Students of many different ethnicities, currently working in the field of Population at the People’s Committees of districts, communes and commune health stations, of which some already have master’s degrees and bachelor’s degrees in other disciplines, the rest graduated from college. Due to the fact that the training process took place during the Covid-19 epidemic, the majority of the courses are taught online. Many students have to participate in the frontline force against the epidemic and even tested positive with Covid-19, but with the dedication of the teaching staff and the high efforts of the students, 100% of the students have completed the programme and graduated.

According to Deputy Director of the Training Centre of the General Office For Population And Family Planning, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Lien, this is the first Bachelor’s programme in Population and Development nationwide. Currently, there are more than 10,000 staff in charge of this work nationwide who have not been able to achieve bachelor’s degrees in the right major, so the training requirements and needs in the coming time will be great.

On behalf of the leaders of Dalat University, Vice President, Dr. Mai Minh Nhat said, aware of the importance of population work in the new situation, to meet the demand for high-quality human resources, the university has coordinated with the General Office For Population And Family Planning to make the Bachelor’s programme in Social Work, majoring in Population and Development. “The school is committed to innovating teaching methods in the coming time, comprehensively improving the quality of education to provide quality human resources for the population work of the country,” said Dr. Mai Minh Nhat.
