The opening ceremony of Dalat University Centre for Artificial Intelligence Education (AIC) is an important milestone in efforts to implement the Government’s artificial intelligence development guidelines, contributing to building and perfecting the AI-Robotics Education Ecosystem in Vietnam.
On the morning of May 7, 2022, Dalat University (DLU) and Imex Pan Pacific Group (IPPG) held the Opening Ceremony of Dalat University Centre for Artificial Intelligence Education (AIC). Dalat University AIC was established under Decision No. 612/QD-ĐHĐL dated September 6, 2021 of the President of Dalat University, with the sponsorship of IPPG.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Tran Viet Hung – Former Deputy Chief of Office of the Party Central Committee; Mr. Vu Thanh Binh – Deputy Director of Science, Technology and Environment Department, Ministry of Education and Training; leaders of Lam Dong Provincial Party Committee’s Propaganda Department,together with leaders of Lam Dong Provincial Departments,leaders of Dalat City People’s Committee and departments of the City;Mr. Willliam Hieu Nguyen – Deputy General Director of IPPG; Mr. Vu Ngoc Son – IPPTech Company, IPPG; Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh – Chairman of DLU’s Board of Trustees, Mr. Mai Minh Nhat – Vice President of DLU, and representatives of universities, colleges, high schools and primary schools in Dalat city; representatives of unions, departments, faculties, institutes, centres, and lecturers and students of Dalat University.
Dalat University AIC was established with the aim of creating a positive learning environment, helping to popularise and update AI-Robotics knowledge for the community; arousing interest, passion for AI-Robotics for students; incubating and fostering high-quality AI-Robotics talents; cooperating, researching and developing AI applications in practice for Lam Dong province and surrounding areas.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. William Hieu Nguyen – Deputy General Director of IPPG – emphasised: AIC’s goal is to help students pursue their dreams of becoming AI talents, AI experts, and create a platform to help Vietnamese workers escape the middle-income trap. By educating and bringing AI to life, a promising technology-economic closely linked ecosystem will be formed, contributing to promoting Vietnam to catch up with the development level of global technology and economy.
Also at the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh – Chairman of DLU’s Board of Trustees – shared: The birth of Dalat University AIC is the result of the right policies and determination of the University’s leaders; the efforts of the Centre’s staff, the valuable sponsorship of IPPG Group, the support of the staff of the Artificial Intelligence Centre of the Information Technology Park (AIC-ITP), Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh also wants agencies, schools and training units in the area to actively cooperate with the AIC of Dalat University to deploy education and research programmes on AI.
The educational programme of Dalat University AIC uses the international AI curriculum, referred to as K12 for short. This is a set of books that has been copyrighted and Vietnameseised from the AI Future Intelligent Manufacture curriculum of UBtech Education (USA), which is currently being taught in many advanced countries in the world such as the United States, China, and Korea. In Vietnam, this book series has been appraised by an interdisciplinary expert panel of computer science, technology and education and has been taught at the AIC-ITP of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City from the beginning of 2021.
Dalat University AIC will organise many courses from long term (8 weeks) to short term (1 session/1 day) for students from 8 to 15 years old. In addition, Dalat University AIC also has classes for instructors teaching AI programmes, teaching gifted students, and teaching AI certificates for students. The AIC is located in the large, green, and poetic campus of Dalat University with 3 large classrooms with a capacity of about 60 students/room, with full modern equipment for AI research and creation.
In addition, Dalat University AIC also has a display area for artificial intelligence solutions. Here, visitors can learn and experience AI products that have been and are being used in Vietnam and around the world, as well as research products on AI of research groups at universities, and complete robot models of AIC students after studying and practicing at AIC.
Also at the Opening Ceremony, Dalat University and IPPG rewarded student Le Thien Anh – Student of Faculty of Information Technology, Dalat University for winning the first prize in round 2 at APJC NetAcad Riders 2022 Competition, becoming the representative of Vietnam to compete with countries in the region. Le Thien Anh’s achievements contribute to affirming the quality and strength in education in general, education in the field of information technology, and digital transformation in particular of Dalat University.
With pioneering technology, Dalat University AIC will be the second centre in the strategic chain of artificial intelligence education development across the country, a major address for research, application and education of artificial intelligence in the Central – Central Highlands region, incubating AI talents, contributing to gradually turning the young Vietnamese generation into digital citizens, providing high-quality human resources in artificial intelligence for the country.
