(Lam Dong online) – On the afternoon of November 2, leaders of Dalat University announced that the school has 3 lecturers who have just been recognized by the State Council for Professorship of the term 2018 – 2023 at the 10th meeting on list of candidates for the title of Professor and Associate Professor in 2022. 

Specifically: Mr. Pham Tien Son, born on January 21, 1964, majoring in Mathematics, hometown in Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province, is a candidate for Professor title; Mr. Nguyen Van Anh, born on July 20, 1983, majoring in Economics, hometown in Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province, is a candidate for Associate Professor title, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, born on December 4, 1983, majoring in Economics, hometown in Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province, is a candidate for Associate Professor title.

According to the above announced list, there are 383 professors and associate professors candidates nationwide approved by the Council; in which, there are 34 candidates for Professor tittle and 349 candidates for Associate Professor title.

According to regulations, after at least 15 days from the date of announcement of the list, the President of the State Council for Professorship will sign a decision to recognize the candidate meeting the standards of Professor and Associate Professor title in the 2022 review period if there are no objection.

Previously, 28 disciplinary and interdisciplinary councils (including security sciences and military sciences) proposed to the state councils to consider 394 applications. There were 11 applications that were not approved by the Council (2 Professor candidates and 9 Associate Professor candidates).

In April 2022, at Dalat University, the President of the State Council for Professorship signed a decision to recognize lecturer Nguyen Van Tuan for Associate Professor title in Economics, and on this basis on May 19, 2022, the President of the University signed and promulgated the decision to appoint Mr. Tuan the title of Associate Professor of Economics.

Currently, Dalat University has a total of 330 lecturers, of which there are 14 Associate Professors and 115 PhDs, accounting for 39%  (The national average of higher education institutions is 32%). The total number of Associate Professors of the University includes 14 lecturers in 11 disciplines.

In the future, in addition to the two new associate professors mentioned above, Mr. Pham Tien Son will be the first person of Dalat University to be recognized as a professor after 46 years of establishment, from 1976 to present. In 2021, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Tien Son was honored in the Top 100 Outstanding Scientists in Asia (published by the Asian Scientist Magazine of Singapore).
